This past week, TNA opened negotiations with Daniel Puder in hopes of bringing him in. Puder went to a television taping a few months ago looking for a job. TNA is looking to bring in some new talent on the belief that they are getting a two-hour show before the end of the year.

Kurt Angle Rumored To Be Joining MMA
Date Added: September 20, 2006
Story By: Amish Patel Source: PWInsider.com
According to a number of sources, Kurt Angle is rumored to be surprisingly returning to action with Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Dave Hawk, Angle's manager, has apparently contacted media outlets in recent days, informing that Angle is slated to make his MMA debut in 2007. Angle also recently revealed his desire to work in MMA when interviewed with magazine Real Fighter.
One name being touted as a possible opponent for Kurt Angle is former WWE Tough Enough winner Daniel Puder, who has been making comments about fighting Angle in UFC next year. Whether this is legitimate or just a stunt to increase interest is unknown. The name of Brock Lesnar is also being thrown around as a possible opponent for Angle. The pair are no strangers to each other after having a memorable feud in WWE, which included them headlining WrestleMania in Seattle, Washington.

Boogeyman released by WWE
By SLAM! Wrestling
One of the more colourful characters in recent memory has been released from WWE.
In a statement on WWE.com, the company announced that as of September 20, The Boogeyman was no longer part of the company. The official notification said, "WWE has come to terms on the release of Boogeyman (Marty Wright) as of today 9/20/06. We wish Marty the best in all future endeavors." Wright first caught the eyes of WWE's higher ups during the Tough Enough 4 tryouts in 2004. The former professional bodybuilder made the first round of cuts during the two-day tryout period, but left after admitting his real age of 40 (the cut-off had been 35 for the competition). Later, Wright would sign with WWE and be assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he underwent development and evolved into the Boogeyman persona. In July 2005, vignettes for The Boogeyman began to appear on WWE programming and in October he was introduced to the Smackdown roster by then co-general manager Palmer Cannon. Cannon explained that Wright had been an actor for a TV show that never made it to "the network". The Boogeyman would soon begin to make regular appearances and would wrestle his first match against Simon Dean in December 2005. Over the next few months, The Boogeyman would show up on Smackdown, and occasionally Raw. He would feud with JBL, which culminated in a victory at the Royal Rumble and Booker T, which included a WrestleMania win, before tearing his bicep. A few months later, promos for The Boogeyman started again, however he never returned to the show. Wright's departure leaves Mike "The Miz" Mizanin and Nick Mitchell as the only TE4 alumni on the main WWE roster. Previously, winner Daniel Puder had be realeased from the company. with files from Jon Waldman

Following on from Wednesday’s news that Kurt Angle is planning to enter the world of Mixed Martial Arts sometime in the near future (click here for our original report), my understanding is that Angle’s camp (fronted by his manager, Dave Hawk) is keen for the former WWE champion to become involved with the UFC promotion.Angle is said to realise that he does not have many years left to make good money from either pro wrestling or MMA, and with smaller MMA promotions not really an option for Kurt (as despite the publicity they would receive likely couldn’t afford him and would not give Angle the same size stage to fight on), Dana White’s UFC promotion is his preferred destination right now. Many may think that White has no interest in bringing a former WWE wrestler into the UFC, but the feeling amongst many who are close to Angle and close to UFC management is that White sees Angle as having the potential to draw some big money. While Angle may not interest UFC diehards, there is a huge market of more casual followers who have a crossover interest with wrestling and WWE, and White believes that the name of Kurt Angle on an UFC card would be great for business. Although his age and physical condition do not do Angle any favours, there has been talk this week that he could feature on UFC cards against “lesser” opponents - fighters who have a MMA background but perhaps have not fought much in UFC, or not at all. One name who has been mentioned is Daniel Puder. Since being released from WWE a year ago, Puder has started to make a fairly good name for himself in the MMA business. There has already been some discussion between Puder’s camp and UFC representatives with a view to Puder appearing in UFC in the future prior to Angle’s announcement earlier this week, but my understanding is that there has been talk of Kurt Angle vs Daniel Puder on a UFC card in the first half of 2007.
Even though the wrestling and UFC businesses are totally different, there is some logic behind putting these two together as a result of their limited history in WWE after Puder manhandled Angle in a brief shoot fight of sorts on an edition of Smackdown! while Puder was part of the $1 million Tough Enough finals. Even though the match may not appeal to UFC diehards, there’s a huge market that the match would appeal to, and should UFC come to terms with both individuals to stage the fight (bearing in mind nothing has been signed yet and likely won’t for several weeks at least), personally I think it would be big business for UFC. As always, we’ll have more on this story as it develops. Kurt Angle/Daniel Puder/UFC, Konnan/Homicide, & More
Date Added: September 21, 2006
Story By: Tim Brown
Source: PWInsider
TNA’s "50 Greatest Moments" DVD will be released nationally on November 21.
The LAX group with Konnan, Homicide, and Hernandez is being viewed as one of the hottest acts in TNA right now and the belief is that they need to capitalize on it and push them as a major thing.
-Daniel Puder has been sending out feelers to UFC about fighting Kurt Angle sometime in 2007. Angle and UFC have talked about it but there is concern over Angle’s health and whether he could pass their drug test.

More On Angle To TNA, Burchill Update, More
Story posted by Andy Figuera on October 02, 2006
Prior to signing Kurt Angle, TNA considered names like Bill Goldberg, Chris Jericho, Brock Lesnar as the major announcement.
Dana White of UFC was confident he would sign Angle before the former WWE champion signed with TNA, and in fact, was working on booking Angle vs. Daniel Puder. There was also talk of Angle coaching next season on "Ultimate Fighter," building to a PPV match but that is now off. Paul Burchill recently returned to the ring for Ohio Valley Wrestling. He's done away with the pirate gimmick, he's now just being himself.
